Relevance

Many projects fail all the time while project management has evolved into more of a business process rather than just a project management process. A significant number of projects have been cancelled or are seen as a failure because they ran too far over budget. Despite having existed for decades and being applied to both traditional and non-traditional projects, project management still mean different things to different people and organisations. As more organisations move towards adopting dynamic approaches to work to achieve their objectives, the demand for advanced project management skills is evident and also increasing.

While procurement one of the nine knowledge areas, plays a significant role in the success of any project. The project team’s skills, understanding and adoption of procurement management principles and practices enhances the ability to properly identify and acquire the deliverables necessary to execute the project.

Validity of the Design

This intensive five-day course was built to demonstrate clearly the practical-critical skills and knowledge required to properly run successful projects and ensure the timely sufficient and cost effective acquisition of materials for the project activities. The course was designed to ensure practice on real situation to aid learning.

Effectiveness

The training was presented through sustained instructions and participatory approach designed to share a combination of experience, knowledge, skills and understanding of valuable real scenarios in the project management and procurement to ensure the attainment of training objectives. To guarantee effective delivery, case-oriented participative approach were adopted with new technologies to aid effective project management.
