Course Description
Gender is a basic organizing principle of societies, particularly in the division of labour in families, communities. Gender analysis is the starting point for gender mainstreaming. Gender analysis provides the necessary data and information to integrate a gender perspective into policies, programmes and projects. The purpose of the training is to enhance the gender-responsive planning so as to more effectively play a critical role in implementing gender-sensitive development policies as well as mainstreaming gender in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, SDG’s.
The Aims of the Course
The course aims to:
- Promoting gender equality and ensuring that women and men can equally lead participate in and benefit from industrial development measures.
- Facilitate the effective and efficient integration of gender considerations throughout the entire project/ programme cycle, with a particular focus on gender analysis tools to support the important stage of project design.
Course Objectives
By the end of this training, delegates should be able to:
- Identify, understand, and describe gender differences and the relevance of gender roles and power dynamics in a particular context.
- show the linkages between inequalities at different societal levels
- Include gender issues within the scope of projects and programmes
- Gather and analyse relevant current gender data, especially socio-economic information, taking into consideration among others: gender roles, access and control to resources; sexual division of labour; time poverty, power relations and legal rights, etc.
- Analyse systemic causes of the problem from a gender perspective.
- Inform the design, planning and M&E of robust and inclusive interventions and programmes that contribute to women’s economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods.
