Course Description
Ethical behaviour in public service is crucial as public servants execute their roles, duties and responsibilities and their relationships to politicians and others sharing public power. Systems of professional ethics are reviewed in the context of public professions. This course will help participates to build and shape an ethical culture in the Public Service by developing the capacity of officials for personal and professional ethical conduct.
The Aims of the Course
The course aims to:
- Build an ethical culture in the Public Service by developing the capacity of officials for personal and professional ethical conduct.
- Provide participants knowledge and understanding of public sector ethics, focusing on the roles and responsibilities of public servants and their relationships to politicians and others sharing public power.
Course Objectives
By the end of this training, delegates should be able to:
- To introduce, improve and consolidate the knowledge of the public official on integrity, morals and respect of the public;
- Critically understand the main concepts and theories in public sector ethics;
- Demonstrate an awareness of ethical issues in public organizations, and how to use ethical reasoning to formulate decisions and promote positive organizational and professional trust.
- Recognise ethical dilemmas in the work place;
- Apply core ethical values and standards contained in public service prescripts;
- Uphold and promote professional ethics in the work place.
